Darjeeling, July 27: On Tuesday, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and she briefed him the overall situation in Darjeeling. In the one-hour long meeting, the Home minister assured Bengal CM of full support to tackle the situation. He also advised Bengal CM for a bilateral meeting with Morcha leaders. The meet has brought a positive relief to Darjeeling residents. Even Morcha has started thinking about the meeting with Bengal government.
Many requests have come to Morcha leaders to go for the bilateral meeting as CM has taken an initiative to discuss with Home Minister. Though Morcha leaders have started a discussion, they denied commenting anything right now. “We won’t comment anything on CM-Home Minister meet. After discussion at various levels, we will come up with the timely decision,” Morcha Secretary Roshan Giri said.
State Police DG Surajit Purokaistho has been inspecting different areas in Darjeeling for three days. Significantly, in this time period, any state property has not been harmed. As DG himself discussed the situation with Government officials, the local Police force has got a boost with their confidence.
