Washington, July 27: As U.S President Trump rolled out his decision to reinstate the ban on transgender in the military, most LGBT rights activists could not believe this. Only a year ago, Trump presented himself as a social liberal seeking and in support of gay and transgender rights. During his election campaigns, he vowed that he would do more than to protect the LGBT people. But with this move on Wednesday to ban the transgender people from military service is a hostile decision.
Taking the transgender ban on Twitter, Trump explained how transgender ban is going to bring victory to the U.S military and army. Sarah Kate Ellis, President of the LGBT group GLAAD said, “His administration will stop at nothing to implement its anti-LGBTQ ideology within our government — even if it means denying some of our bravest Americans the right to serve and protect our nation.”
The Human Rights Commission, a national LGBT-rights group, depicted the Republican President’s action as “heinous and disgusting” attack on transgender service members. Trump's pronouncement was hailed by some conservatives who have long complained that the military was undermining its effectiveness by allowing gays, lesbians and transgender people to serve openly. Opponents also have contended that the military should not bear the cost of any medical procedures related to gender transition.
