Guwahati, July 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Assam on 1st August in order to review the situation in the flood-hit areas and to access the aftermath situation of the devastating floods. Also, PM Modi will undertake the aerial survey of worst flood-hit districts of Dhemaji, Majuli and North Lakhimpur districts.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal informed this through Twitter; he said that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Assam on August 1.” During his visit, the PM will discuss matters incorporating all the aspects relating to the recent floods in Assam with the CM Sarbananda Sonowal and various officials at Guwahati, an official statement said.
During his visit, PM Modi will also take stock of the damage caused by floods, will also discuss regarding the flood management and protection.
Meanwhile, Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit contributed his one month salary to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in aid to the flood affected people. Also, the state ministers decided to contribute their one month’s salary for flood relief. At least 82 people have been killed and over 25 lakh population affected in 29 districts of the state in floods.
Prior to this Prime Minister Modi reviewed his home state, Gujarat floods, took an aerial survey and released the financial aid of Rs.500 Crores to those who were affected due to massive floods.
