Tokyo, July 30: On last Friday, North Korea tested second intercontinental ballistic missile. The constant missile testing of North Korea has been creating tension in the region since long days. Japanese fighter jets and U.S. bombers conducted a joint drill of the Korean Peninsula on Sunday to show the determination of regional stability.

"Under the current security situations including the launch Friday of the (North Korean ballistic) missile, the drill demonstrated our country's determination and capabilities for regional stability and strengthened Japan-U.S. alliance's deterrence and response capabilities,” Japanese Defense Minister Fumio Kishida said.

The drill involved two F-2 fighters and two B-1 bombers. Those were escorted by a Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-2 fighter jet fly over the Korean Peninsula on Sunday.

Japanese officials spoke to officials in Washington and Seoul on the issue. "Japan, the United States, and South Korea are in complete agreement about the need to strengthen pressure (on North Korea), including at the U.N. Security Council," Abe told.
