Jitendra Singh appreciates people of Meghalaya for cooperating to adopt GST

New Delhi, July 31: The biggest tax reformation in India took place exactly one month ago. The Goods and Service tax (GST) with the dream of “one tax one nation” was implemented in India from the from the midnight between 30th June and 1st July. On Sunday, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh briefed about the progress in GST implementation in Meghalaya. The people from Meghalaya cooperated in a positive and consistent way to adopt GST.

 

The good participation of Meghalaya his signifies not only the inclination of this North-Eastern State to be a part of the economic reform happening in rest of India, but is also a reiteration of the people of Meghalaya to be a part of the fast-track development and reform journey.
 
The state is going through a period of d4velopmental work. The work to lay a broad gauge rail track in the state is in progress. Jitendra Singh also informed that the up gradation of air-strip at Shillong Airport will be funded by the Ministry of DoNER.
 
In last two years, Meghalaya has also progressed in the sector of home tourism. This has generated a good means of livelihood for local youth.
