Basirhat, July 7: The communal violence in Basirhat has gone beyond small clashes. Now different organizations are visiting the area with various famous politicians. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee urged oppositions not to visit the area until the situation returns to normalcy. On Friday morning, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Roopa Ganguly was barred from entering the area by security forces on Friday. Representative teams from the Congress and the Left were also rejected by security forces.

“It was fine till the administration worked on arresting the culprit of the Facebook post, but the violence which has now erupted is highly condemnable. We will also talk to the administration to ask why this happened,” Ganguly told. Near the airport area, she was stopped and detained. According to her, some people playfully want to prove it as a riot.

Left and Congress delegation were also stopped on their way. A Congress delegation led by Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was barred near Basirhat. The left delegation which was led by CPI9M0 MP Mohammed Salim tried twice to enter the area.

To stop this violence, heavy security forces have been deployed. Though BJP leader Shameek Lahiri expressed his anger by saying, “This area is not under 144. Still, Police has detained us.”
