Gandhinagar, July 9: The Army Recruitment Rally which is being held in Anand district of Gujarat has attracted a record-breaking number of online registrations as young aspirant wants to serve their country. Notably, a record number of 71,039 candidates registered online for the recruitment drive for different categories in the Army, making it the highest turnout so far in the state.
However, the final figure of candidates likely to be inducted into the force is also likely to break previous records. The rally that started on 9th July at Shastri Maidan will continue till July 16. In this recruitment rally, the staggering total number of 71,039 candidates from districts of Gujarat is participating. The recruitment rally is for soldier general duty, soldier clerk, store keeper technical, soldier tradesman and soldier technical and soldier nursing assistant categories.
Brigadier Dinesh Chadhha, deputy director general recruiting said, "This rally has surpassed the earlier record when 60,580 candidates had registered for the drive that was held in Himmatnagar in December 2016."
On the other side, de fence spokesman, Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman said, "The record registrations both at Himmatnagar and Anand suggest that there is increasing awareness amongst the youth of Gujarat where before 2013, registrations were in the range of Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000." It is a significant upward trend which is a welcome sign," he added.
Commander Abhishek Matiman further said that there was a time when Gujarat vacancies could not be filled but now more youths from the state are getting attracted to the Army which explains the quantum jump in registrations.
Interestingly, Gujarat has seen a consistent increase in the numbers of participants and recruited per rally since 2014. According to the official data, the numbers that averaged around 300 per rally for Army Recruitment Office Jamnagar and around 400 per rally for Army Recruitment Office Ahmedabad 2013-14, have seen steady growth. The rallies conducted in the year 2016-17 by Army Recruitment Office Jamnagar saw 492 while the Army Recruitment Office Ahmedabad conducted at Himmatnagar in December 2016 registered a record-shattering total of 786 selections.
