New Delhi, August 1: After opposition targeted the Prime Minister Modi-led government over lynching incidents across the nation, the Centre hit back at the Opposition. The Government said that mob lynching is the worst form of crime and it should be condemned by one and all.
He added that it is for state governments to take action against lynching incidents. "Mob lynching or anything related to that will not be acceptable, so strong action must be taken. We are functioning under the provisions of a constitution of India there is a federal structure which is very well defined."
He said, the Centre does not discriminate between states and extends all possible assistance whenever needed. The Minister also said that the opposition is raising such issues as they are devoid of any real issues.
Rijiju said, the Government is functioning as per Constitutional norms. The Minister asserted that swift action has been taken in all states from where incidents of mob lynching were reported. He said, FIRs were immediately registered and the accused persons were put behind bars.
Initiating the discussion, Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress expressed his concern over such incidents of violence. He alleged that there is a sense of fear among the people due to the alleged killings on the basis of religion and in the name of cow protection.
