New York, August 11: As a counter step to US Sanction on Russia, Russian President Putin ordered US Embassy in Russia to cut 7555 staffs. Whereas this decision has been criticized by many US diplomats, US President Donald Trump thanked Russian President for this order. On one hand, it has been described as a cold war like step, on the other hand as cost cutting step for the US. Again Trump’s conflict with other leaders comes to daylight after Trump’s comment.
“I want to thank him because we’re trying to cut down on the payroll, and as far as I’m concerned, I’m very thankful that he let go of a large number of people because now we have a smaller payroll,” Trump told. “There’s no real reason for them to go back. So I greatly appreciate the fact that we’ve been able to cut our payroll of the United States. We’ll save a lot of money.” Trump said again.
The comment is also in much contradiction with a State Department official’s comment. The decision was called Moscow's order "a regrettable and uncalled-for act."
State department has expressed its hostility as "horrified and rattled". "It is very difficult to see how the president could view these expulsions as a 'positive' development in any form," said another top level State Department official.
