Ranchi, August 12: Appreciating businessmen for the role they play in the development of the nation, Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that only a few traders do gimmicks in their business. He however said that most of the businessmen want to do work honestly.
Furthermore, he added that GST is a good law and it may take some time for people to understand it. Speaking at a workshop on GST organized at Project Building, he elaborated, “There is a parallel black money economy of 30%. With implementation of GST, the black money is targeted. It will ultimately help in implement development work faster and benefit the common people. Leakage will be stopped and revenue will increase. It is an established fact that some problems arise in implementation of a law initially and later, the problems are sorted out.”
A council has been constituted on Centre level and an advisory committee is working in the state. The businessmen put forth their problems before these committees and the problems are sorted out.
“One discrepancy arose when the UD Minister Mr. C. P. Singh mentioned 18% more tax in textile industry. The Council considered his point and decreased it to 12%,” said the CM.
Referring to implementation of GST as economic revolution, the CM said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called it ‘good and simple tax’ as one tax in a nation will finally benefit the people. He thanked all parties for extending support in implementing GST. He appealed to all MLAs to understand GST well and disseminate it properly among people of their assembly and inspire the businessmen to register with GST.
The government has also started a toll free number which can be helpful in sorting problems out. Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren said the doubts regarding GST should be removed from the minds of the people. It should be sorted out soon in the light of problems traders face. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy said GST will prove to be very fruitful in future.
