Cincinnati, August 17: Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza and her Chinese partner Shuai Peng on Wednesday advanced to Quarter finals of the Cincinnati Masters. In the pre-quarterfinals match, the fourth seeded pair of Mirza and Shuai Peng registered an easy win against a German-Ukrainian team of Julia Goerges and Olga Savchuk by 7-5, 6-4.
Sania and her partner Shuai Peng pair looked dominant throughout the match against German- Ukraine duo and registered a commanding win by 7-5, 6-4 in a match that lasted for one and a half hour. The Indo-German duo of Mirza and Shuai will now face Romanian team of Irina-Camelia Begu and Raluca Olaru for a place in the last four.
On the other side, in Men’s Doubles, Rohan Bopanna and his partner Alexander Zverev Jr. suffered a major blow as they crashed out of the U.S. Open warm-up tournament after going down against Spain's Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez. Paes and Zverev lost Spanish duo by 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 10-6.
However, Leander had already been crashed out in the opening round in the men’s singles. Meanwhile, India’s campaign came to an end in men's singles round after Ramkumar Ramanathan was bowed out by American Jared Donaldson in a second round match. In mixed doubles, Leander Paes and his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig will be seen in action in the Round-of-16 on Thursday.
