Towards a pollution-free planet; Kenya to host next UN Environment Assembly

Nairobi, August 17: The next host nation of The UN Environment Assembly, Kenya starts sending messages on a pollution free world. Ahead of UNEA, Environment minister has said that a pollution free world is possible. The Assembly aims to deliver a number of tangible commitments to end the pollution of our air, land, waterways, and oceans, and to safely manage our chemicals and waste. The theme of upcoming assembly is “towards a pollution free world”.

This third session of UNEA will take place December 4 to 6, 2017 in Nairobi, Kenya. The UNEA has the universal membership of all 193 UN member states and the full involvement of UN organizations. It is the highest-level decision-making body on the environment by the UN.

The environment minister of host nation has expressed his positive view on the theme. As we think, pollution free world is a myth he still thinks it is possible. “Let’s work together towards a pollution free planet. It can be done with full commitment from member nations. It is doable,” he said.

Due to over economic activity Niger Delta and other regions of the country are affected by various forms of pollution. The government is committed to making those areas pollute free.
