Tirupati, Aug 17: Recollecting his emotional connection with the temple city of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that he is alive only because of the blessings of Lord Venkateswara. Sharing his personal experience in his Independence Day speech Naidu said, “I am fortunate to be showered with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. He's always there with me. I could have been killed by the Alipiri bomb blast that day. It's like a rebirth for me”. Naidu, who was the chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh at the time, survived a landmine blast by Naxals in October 2003, at Alipiri near Tirupati.

As reported by Times of India, during his address Naidu hailed the power of democracy in India, where a common man like late N T Rama Rao, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and himself who came from humble backgrounds, reached highest positions in the government and country.

Speaking about his home district Chittoor from where he started his political journey and was elected MLA for the first time from Kuppam in 1989, Naidu asserted that he is working towards the overall development of the Chittoor. Elaborating about various development projects in Chittoor district N Chandrababu Naidu stated that with the improved connectivity the district will emerge as an industrial hub in coming years.

Addressing the issue of smuggling activities, the chief minister assured that state government will take all possible measures against the illegal activities. "The region is endowed with natural resources like red sanders and the government will take all steps to protect it," said Naidu.
