Lucknow, August 17: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday said that he has no right to stop Janmashtami celebration at police stations just the same way that he has no right to stop offering of namaz on roads at Eid.

Speaking at an event organised by the Prerna Jansanchar Evam Shidh Sansthan, CM Yogi said “when officers said microphones, DJs and music during the kanwar yatra should be banned, that in such a case microphones should be banned everywhere and no sound should emanate from any place of worship.”

“I asked if this was a kanwar yatra or a funeral procession. If they don’t play music and drums, don’t dance and sing, don’t use the mike, how it will be a kanwar yatra”, Yogi Adityanath said no one should have any objection on the celebration of Ganesh Utsav in every village and town.

He said everyone has the freedom to celebrate festivals in the country. Those who work for strengthening the cultural unity of the country, he added, are called communal.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday participated in the 'Shri Krishna Janmotsava' and inaugurated the celebrations by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Reserve Police Lines.
