Nasty jolt for YSR Congress as Gangula Pratap Reddy joins TDP ahead of the Nandyal poll

Vijayawada, Aug 18: Gangula Pratap Reddy, a former MP and senior leader of YSR Congress, ahead of the crucial election of Nandyal has joined Telugu Desam party in presence of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. After having long deliberations with Naidu, the former YSR leader has switched the side with the promise of good recognition in the party.

According to media reports, Pratap Reddy is pitching for Lok Sabha seat of Nandyal in 2019. Considered as the local strongman who understands the nitty gritty of the Kurnool politics enjoys good support from his community. He was one of the candidate of YSRC for Nandyal by poll, but the exit of former minister Silpa Mohan Reddy from the TDP zeroed the prospect of Pratap Reddy.

Gangula Pratap Reddy’s brother Prabhakar after quitting TDP immediately joined hands with opposition party YSR Congress and also got elected as an MLC in March.

Commenting on the political development YSR leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, who is political secretary of party Supremo Jagan Mohan Reddy said that his defection ahead of the polls would not make any major dent in upcoming Nandyal poll.
