Cincinnati, August 18: Top Indian Tennis player Sania Mirza and her Chinese partner Shuai Peng on Friday swiftly entered into the semi finals of Cincinnati Masters. While, Rohan Bopanna and his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig also reached the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters which is being held in Cincinnati, USA.
Sania Mirza and her Chinese partner Shuai Peng edged past the Romanian team of Irina-Camelia Begu and Raluca Olaru by 6-3, 6-7(1), 10-3 in a match that lasted for an hour and 40 minutes. Sania, Shuai Peng earlier defeated a German-Ukrainian team of Julia Goerges and Olga Savchuk by 7-5, 6-4 to enter into quarter finals.
Mirza and Peng’s semi-final opponents have not been decided yet. They will compete with the winner of the quarter-final between Monica Niculescu/Su-Wei Hsieh and Lyudmila Kichenok/Lesia Tsurenko.
Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig defeated the Colombian-Italian pairing of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Fabio Fognini by 5-7, 7-5, 10-8 in a match that lasted for an hour and 41 minutes. It was a hard fought win for Bopanna and Dodig.
The Colombian-Italian pairing of Cabal and Fognini faced nine break points on their serve but went on to save eight of these. However, Bopanna and Dodig weren’t able to save the sole break point they faced on their serve. Bopanna and Dodig next face second seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo, who registered an easy win over Diego Schwartzman and Mischa Zverev 7-5, 6-2.
