Raipur, August 19: In a bid to strengthen irrigation facility in Chhattisgarh, State Power Distribution Company has been given the target of providing electricity connection to irrigation pumps of 30 thousand farmers under jurisdiction of Authority area within six months.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh yesterday presided over the meetings of Scheduled Caste Development Authority and State Rural and Other Backward Area Development Authority, and discussed in detail about various issues.
Chief Minister has directed officials concerned to ensure redressal of these applications as soon as possible. Officials told that since the day authority was constituted Rs 25 crore 65 lakh have been sanctioned for providing connection to irrigation pumps of three thousand 778 farmers.
State Government provides subsidy of nearly one lakh rupees to Power Distribution Company for each connection. In case cost of line expansion exceeds this amount, the remaining amount is sanctioned by the authority, he added.
During the discussion in the meeting, officials informed that nearly six hundred youth of scheduled caste section have been provided financial aid for self-employment under Mini Mata Swavalamban Yojana . Under the scheme, each selected beneficiary is provided Rs one lakh 40 thousand for construction of shop and loan of Rs 60 thousand is given as loan for goods. Chief Minister has directed Collectors to submit current business status report of these beneficiaries.
