Indian Armed Forces clinched 60 ‘Laurels’ in form of medals at LA World Police & Fire Games-2017

New Delhi, August 19: Indian security forces not only protect the sovereignty of the nation, mankind etc but also represents the country in the International sports arena. Indian armed forces have brought laurels to the country and made all of us proud by winning 60 medals including 30 gold, 17 silver and 13 bronze at World Police and Fire games 2017 held in Los Angeles which concluded on Wednesday.

 

India clinched a total of 10 medals in swimming event including 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze. In the Athletic event, Indian Athletes won whopping 25 medals including 10 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze. In wrestling event, Indian wrestlers bagged 4 medals including all 4 bronze. In boxing event, Indian boxers won 3 medals all gold. Indian Archers bagged a total of 3 medals including 1 gold and 2 silver in Archery event. In shooting event, Indian shooters grabbed 15 medals including 7 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze.

 

A glimpse of winners in World Police and Fire games 2017:

Gurdeep Beesla, a Vancouver Police Department officer and Parmvir Dhesi, a correctional officer at BC Corrections, bagged gold in the 125 kg and 97 kg weight classes, respectively in Freestyle Wrestling competition.

Ace swimmer Richa Mishra of CRPF made India proud with 8 gold and 2 bronze medals in swimming competition.

Sh P S Rathore DIG bagged a Gold medal in net and silver in Gross score in an individual Golf tournament.

N.T.V. Ramkumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Special Branch), along with Chandigarh SP Asish Kumar won Gold in the Men’s Doubles Badminton.

BSF shooters who hailed from Indore won 5 medals including 2 gold. While, BSF boxers Pardeep, Choba Devi, Sankar Appa clinched gold medals in a boxing event.

Pallavi Das of Assam Police archery team bagged two gold medals (field & 3D archery events) and one silver medal ( target archery event).

Bonita Lakra and Bighnaraj Miridia of Odisha Police won a gold medal. Bonita was part of the Indian women police team which bagged gold in 4X100 metres relay race. The woman athlete of Odisha Police also clinched silver in 100 metres flat race and bronze in 100 metres hurdles in the women’s category. Bighnaraj bagged gold in 400 metres flat race. He also won bronze in 400 metres hurdles in men’s category.

Riflemen/GD Grumayum Robert Sharma of Assam Rifles Archery Team won three gold medals in 3 different events i.e. 3D Bare Compound Bow, Field Bare Compound Bow and Target 900 Round Bare Bow.

ITBP personnel Dinesh Kumar clinched a gold medal in 75 Kg category in the ongoing LA World Police & Fire Games-2017. However, another ITBP personnel Praveen grabbed the gold medal in 80 Kg category.

ITBP personnel S. Basanta Singh won 2 gold, V. Sharada and Anil Kumar 01 Gold each in archery events.

ITBP boxer Nirmala Rawat won Gold in the boxing competition.

Interestingly, more than 10,000 participants took part in LA World Police & Fire Games in which Indian competitors shined prominently and made the country proud.
