Manchester, August 2: The Commonwealth Games gold medalist and second seed duo Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal registered the first victory for India at the WSF-World Doubles Squash Championship on Monday, which is being held in Manchester.
The top seed duo Pallikal and Chinappa registered an easy victory over the Colombian pair of Pelaez and Tovar by 11- 4, 11-5 in a Group B league encounter at the WSF-World Doubles Squash Championship. The match only lasted for 14 minutes and Indian pairs completely dominated their opponents. The Indian duo clinched easy points in the game as the opponents continued to make mistakes at every interval.
Later, Joshna who teamed up with Vikram Malhotra in the mixed doubles also won the first match in Group C against Leiper and Hallam of Scotland by 11-5, 11-6. In this segment also, Indian duo showed of dominance over Scottish pair and won the match effortlessly.
Interestingly, Joshna Chinappa recently bagged Asian Individual Squash Championship title after defeating his compatriot Dipika Pallikal by 13-15, 12-10, 11-13, 11-4, 11-4 in a final match which lasted for 78 minutes. Both the players are equally talented and trained at the Indian Squash Academy and made the whole country proud on several occasions in the international sports arena.
