TDP wins Nandyal turf, Big jolt for Jagan Mohan Reddy

Vijayawada, Aug 28: Setting a tone for the 2019 general election ruling Telugu Desam Party under the dynamic leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today won the prestigious battle of Nandyal bye-poll with the thumping margin of 27,000 votes. Coming out as a big blow for YSR Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy as the yellow army has grabbed the seat in the Rayalaseema region considered to be a YSRCP bastion. In 2014 assembly elections YCR Congress had won the seat of Nandyal.

TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy got 97,076 votes whereas its rival Silpa Mohan Reddy of YSC Congress ended up with 69,610 votes. Once again Congress candidate could manage only 1,382 votes. According to state election commission, 80 per cent of the 2.16 lakh voters had cast their votes in the by-election held on August 23.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy for registering a thumping victory in Nandyal.

 
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also thanked people of Nandyal for showing trust in ruling party. “People have endorsed development agenda, upheld values in public life. Will create a Smart Nandyal by following our motto 'People First' ” said Naidu. Taking a dig at YSR Chief Naidu mentioned that people have rejected the politics of negativity & disorderliness.
