Grow with more books! Govt working on National Book Promotion Policy

New Delhi, August 3: The more we are entering the digital age, the more everyone is losing their reading habit. Reading does not only increase knowledge but also develops a personality, the point of view, and lifestyle. To promote reading and books, the two-day national seminar was organized by National Book Trust. The trust has already touched 60 years.

To promote books and reading habit more, Government of India is working on finalizing a National Book Promotion Policy, which will take care of providing a policy direction to the whole spectrum of book publication, writing, and distribution in order to promote a culture of reading in the society.

The books also help to create a sense of nationality among common mass. “Nationalism is an integral part of Indian literature,” Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of State of Human Resource Development said. The e-books, PDF may acquire an important place but the importance of Printed books will never diminish.

The first session of the seminar focused on the tribal literature of India. The second session reflected upon the folk literature of India. The speakers also emphasized how women writers have played a significant role in the awakening of India.
