New Delhi, August 4: France had and has been the favourite country for all of us from Europe, and why not? Paris alas, is the romantic capital of the French country. And as we all know how everyone dreams to stay in Paris for even a night! With all the love we receive from France, the country has yet again been renounced to be the world’s ‘favourite’ tourism destination in 2016 defying the concerns of terror attacks, according to the UN’s World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The United States came second followed closely by Spain, according to annual figure. France3 stayed on top by welcoming 82.6 million visitors in 2016 which is a 2% drop from the previous year. Repeated terror attacks had sparked concerns that tourism would drop substantially in France, known especially for its gastronomy and wine but the data indicated most visitors have not been put off.
The number of tourists visiting the US was also down, falling three percent to 75.61 million, which saw the country narrowly maintain its second position as Spain experienced a 10 percent jump in visitors to 75.56 million.
The latter's tourism industry has boomed partly because people who normally go to Turkey, Egypt or north Africa for their holidays are instead deciding to chase the sun in Spain, citing fears of unrest.
After the Brexit vote in Britain, the tourism industry has fall down from 3rd position to 7th. And it’s definitely not a shock!
However, France is located in the heart of Europe and shares its boundaries with Switzerland and Spain. So, it becomes easier for the tourists to travel either of the countries. The new French President Emmanuel Macron has come up as a pro-Democrat and a Liberal which also forms the basis of the liking for open-minded tourists to choose France. So, do not waste one more moment in thinking which country to visit. Pack your bags and leave. Bon Voyage!
