99.4% of census villages are electrified under rural electrification scheme ‘DDUGJY’

New Delhi, August 5: With an aim to electrify the villages of India, Government till now brightened 99.4% of census villages are electrified till date. Notably, 594,099 villages out of 597,464 census villages till date have been electrified till date and remaining 3365 villages will be electrified soon.

 

Interestingly, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland and Sikkim are the states where 100% villages are electrified till date.

Manipur

Out of 2,379 census villages, 2,316 villages (97.2%) have been electrified. 63 villages are yet to be electrified.

Mizoram

Out of 704 census villages, 693 villages (98.4%) have been electrified. 11 villages are yet to be electrified.

Uttar Pradesh

Out of 97,813 census villages, 97,809 villages (99.9%) have been electrified. 4 villages are yet to be electrified.

Meghalaya

Out of 6,459 census villages, 6,324 villages (97.9%) have been electrified. 135 villages are yet to be electrified.

Assam

Out of 25,372 census villages, 24,949 villages (98.3%) have been electrified. 423 villages are yet to be electrified.

Arunachal Pradesh

Out of 5,258 census villages, 4,051 villages (77%) have been electrified. 1,207 villages are yet to be electrified.

Jammu and Kashmir

Out of 6,337 census villages, 6,235 villages (98.3%) have been electrified. 102 villages are yet to be electrified.

Uttarakhand

Out of 15,745 census villages, 15,694 villages (99.6%) have been electrified. 50 villages are yet to be electrified.

Rajasthan

Out of 43,264 census villages, 43,263 villages (99.9%) have been electrified. 1 village is yet to be electrified.

Karnataka

Out of 27,397 census villages, 27,387 villages (99.9%) have been electrified. 10 villages are yet to be electrified.

Chhattisgarh

Out of 19,567 census villages, 19,307 villages (98.6%) have been electrified. 260 villages are yet to be electrified.

Odisha

Out of 47,677 census villages, 47,278 villages (99.1%) have been electrified. 399 villages are yet to be electrified.

Jharkhand

Out of 29,492 census villages, 29,078 villages (98.3%) have been electrified. 414 villages are yet to be electrified.

Bihar

Out of 39,073 census villages, 38,836 villages (99.3%) have been electrified. 237 villages are yet to be electrified.

West Bengal

Out of 37,463 census villages, 37,460 villages (99.9%) have been electrified. 3 villages are yet to be electrified.

Notably, in the year 2015, 18, 452 villages were un-electrified. After PM Modi-led government came into power, 14882 villages are electrified. Rest 3570 villages are yet to be electrified and other 965 villages are uninhabited.

Notably, the government of India took the initiative to electrify all the villages under rural electrification scheme DDUGJY. The project has been taken on a mission mode and strategy for electrification consists of squeezing the implementation schedule to 12 months and also dividing village electrification process into 12 Stage milestones with defined timelines for monitoring.
