Venkaiah Naidu thanks Kannadigas for their love and support

Bengaluru, Aug 7: Expressing his gratitude towards the people of Karnataka Vice-President-elect M Venkaiah Naidu said Karnataka is really special for him as he represented the state in the upper house for 18 long years. “I owe a lot to the people of Karnataka for choosing me as one of their representatives” he mentioned. Naidu was speaking at the event organized by Bengaluru citizens.

 

Naidu, 68, represented the state of Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha for three consecutive terms till May 2016. Recollecting the historic connection with state Venkaiah said, “I feel happy that I am the second person after BD Jatti to get such an opportunity”. Hailing from Karnataka BD Jatti was the fifth Vice-President from 1974 to 1979.

Commenting on the center and state relationship in the federal style of governance the Vice-President-elect Naidu asserted that in spite of various ups and downs the unitary-federal mechanism has matured over the years, with a decline in frictions between the Centre and the state relationship.

   

Famous for his apt one-liners Venkaiah Naidu coined a unique term for India. He said, “India stands for Integrated, National, Development, Impacting, All citizens equally”. India belongs to all of its citizens irrespective of their place of birth, caste, creed, religion, and status. he added.

On this occasion Union Ministers HN Ananth Kumar and D. V. Sadananda Gowda, former Chief Justice of India MN Venkatakachaliah and BJP's state unit president BS Yeduyurappa and BJP leader P Muralidhar Rao were present.
