Kolkata, August 8: Finally putting a fool stop to State-Centre tussle regarding GST, Bengal assembly passed GST bill on Tuesday. The discussion on GST bill started from Monday to replace the ordinance passed earlier on GST. Almost every state passed GST in recent months.

In Monday’s discussion, the opposition party Left Front members opposed the bill. Though ruling party TMC backed the bill it criticized central government for implementing GST so early. They claimed that central did it without proper infrastructure and common people were also not aware of GST.

Though Amit Mitra, the West Bengal Finance Minister was chairman of GST Council, the state was vocal about some points of GST. Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee even said Bengal won’t accept GST without some revision.

"Though we support the introduction of GST as a noble concept, we don't agree to certain things imposed by Centre due to which the poor are being hurt." , TMC leader Shilbhadra Dutta said.
