Boko Haram terror intensifies in Nigeria; takes away lives of 31 fishermen

Kano, August 8: The African nation, Nigeria never seems to experience stability, peace due to Boko Haram terror. This Islamic terror group has always put the country in misery. From abducting school girls, now their torture has changed its direction to killing fishermen. As per the local medical report, at least 312 fishermen have been killed by Boko Haram jihadists.

In northeastern region, where Boko Haram terror takes most intense form, islands in Lake Chad saw the attacks. The fishing islands of Duguri and Dabar Wanzam in the freshwater lake became the target of terrorists.

"Boko Haram attacked Duguri and Dabar Wanzam islands and killed 31 people," a member of a local militia told AFP. The attacks divided into two groups. Among the 31 innocent victims, 14 were killed in Daguri and another 17 in Dabar Wanzam.

Just before one week, Nigerian military lifted a two-year ban. The ban was on fishing in the islands that straddles Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad. It was assumed that book haram is using the Nigeria side of the lake to raise fund by fishing. For bread and butter poor fishermen returned to the island just after the ban lift.
