Srinagar, August 8: Jammu and Kashmir police continuing its effort to curb terrorism and other anti-national activities busted a terrorist module belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen and arrested three over-ground workers (OGWs) in Behrampora Tilgam are of Kashmir. Arms including two Chinese pistol and ammunition are recovered from the possession of apprehended OGWs.
Jammu and Kashmir police immediately arrested three OGWs from Behrampora Tilgam area of Kashmir after getting specific inputs about their presence who were trying to lure young boys into militancy. The state police along with army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifle and CRPF arrested all the three OGWs named as Waseem Ahmed Mir, Umer Hassan Rather, Akif Hassan Rather easily and recovered Chinese pistol and ammunition.
All the three arrested are local residents of Kashmir. As soon as the security forces arrested all OGWs made a confession that they were working for Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist group and involved motivating young boys in militancy and providing all logistic support to terrorists in the Andergam Pattan and Sopore area. This network was being spearheaded by Hizbul commander Parvej Wani.
Interestingly, the arrest comes just a day after the Indian army gunned down five Pakistani terrorists and foiled the major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of Kupwara district. While a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist from Pakistan was killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district on the same day. This year 47 terrorists have been killed along the LoC while infiltrating into the valley. The Army claimed that at least 20 infiltration bids have been foiled this year. Earlier, in the month of June and July this year, at least 8-9 over-ground workers (OGWs) were arrested by state police from several parts of Jammu and Kashmir who belonged to Hizbul, LeT terror outfit.
