Shimla, August 9: With an aim to bring the talents out of the schools and provide them a proper platform, former BCCI president and BJP MP from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur launched the second leg of the 'Khelega Yuva, Jeetega Himachal'.
Notably, Anurag Thakur on Tuesday announced the launch of the second leg of the 'Khelega Yuva, Jeetega Himachal' initiative to nurture budding talents in schools. Seven sports will be promoted under the 'Khelega Yuva, Jeetega Himachal' initiative across all the schools with a strength of 300 plus students to identify talent, nurture them, channelise their energies in the right direction and insulate them from falling prey to menace like drugs.
Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Thakur said seven sports including football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, kabaddi, boxing, badminton and kho-kho will be promoted. He further noted that the initiative is mainly taken to nurture budding talents in schools. “A provision of Rs 2 crore will be made for the development of sports infrastructure in schools, for any of the seven sports,” he added.
Interestingly, Anurag Thakur, the former BCCI president, recently hosted Himachal Pradesh's first ever state olympic games in Hamirpur to provide a platform to the athletes to showcase their talent and skills.
