Chandigarh, September 1: The long awaiting decision on the Jat reservation comes from Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Court on Friday referred the matter back to the backward class commission. Till then, Jat quota will remain on hold. The commission has to submit its report by March 31.
The Jat, Jat Sikh, Muslim-Jat, Bishnoi, Ror and Tyagi communities who eagerly waited for the decision will definitely be disappointed with the decision. The Jats constitute 26% of Haryana’s population. Last year February, in demand of reservation the violent protest left 30 people dead and over 200 injured.
“The court has directed the state government present the Backward Class Commission data collected by it, else the commission will collect data on basis of which percentage to which extent reservation is to be granted to be determined,” Haryana Additional Advocate General Lokesh Singhal told news agency ANI.
