Mexico city, September 10: At least 90 people have been killed while hundreds other were injured til l now due to the massive earthquake that took place on Friday. Notably, Mexico witnessed one of the most powerful earthquakes with the magnitude of 8.1 and its epicenter was 165 kilometers (102 miles) west of Tapachula in southern Chiapas state. It had a depth of 35 kilometers.

The earthquake was so fierce that hundreds of building collapsed leaving behind the enormous loss of lives and wealth too. Chiapas and Oaxaca were the most affected states, but tremors and damage spread north to Mexico City more than 650 miles and beyond.
The extensive loss of lives and wealth caused due to an earthquake and Hurricane Katia, a category 1 storm, which made landfall on Mexico's Gulf coast on Friday bringing sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph). The earthquake toppled buildings and left one million people without power, although most have since had their electricity supply restored.
A spokesman for the emergency services said that 90 people have been killed and however the death toll may increase effectively in near future. President Enrique Pena Nieto announced the loss of life on Twitter within hours and offered condolences to families.
