New Delhi, September 10: For the protection of consumer right across the country, National consumer Helpline plays a very important role. The system of the helpline is getting stronger soon as 6 zonal Helplines will be launched in the country from coming October. In addition to that, the zonal helplines will have 10 consumer desks. Minister for Consumer Affairs, Ram Vilas Paswan announced this during a press conference. When Indian citizens buy goods and services they are protected by the law – the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.
The number of people lodging complaint on the National Consumer Helpline has increased by almost 3 times. National Consumer Helpline received 1.30 lakh complaints in 2014 by the consumer which increased to 3 lakh in 2017. 18 states will be connected to the National Consumer Help Line by March 2018.
