Venkaiah Naidu lays the foundation stone of the 1st Smart City in Ranchi; empowers people on education too

Ranchi, 10 September: Newly appointed Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday visited Jharkhand to lay the foundation stone of Greenfield Smart City at Ranchi. Along with the Greenfield, he also inaugurated Urban Civic Tower, Convention Centre and Jharkhand Urban Planning and Management Institute in the Campus of Ranchi Smart City Area. While speaking at the inaugural event, Naidu appreciated the natural resources and minerals excavated from the state. He also stressed upon the fact there should be transparency and order in the system while they build the smart city projects. 

 
 
The smart city will have modern transport system, world class education hub, 24 hours water and electricity, Wi-Fi, public toilets at every 200 meters and will be carbon free zone. The proposed smart city will be spread over 656 acres in HEC area. The Greenfield Smart City will cost ten thousands crore rupees and will also have 16 thousand residential flats for 70 thousands residents.
 
He further explained that Jharkhand consists of 40% of country’s minerals and a visionary Chief Minister Raghubar Das. He said, “If the world is moving then why should we stay behind? It is necessary for the country that all the cities of India are smart and this is also the goal of our Prime Minister. People need to change their thinking. People think that what will happen if we become a smart city, they come out from such a thinking. The smart city will work for the state as a light house and help people to move in the right direction, as in the ocean the light house indicates the ships the correct path. “
 
Naidu also explained how Jharkhand was selected for building a smart city and how the state has transformed in a course of time. Speaking on the lines of violence and Maoism in the state, he said “Violence has diminished in Jharkhand to a large extent. Human rights activists raise voice only when the Maoists are killed, but they should also raise their voice when a Policeman martyrs. Those who commit violence should not get encouragement.”
While this was his first visit as a Vice-President, Naidu also celebrated the National Literacy Day in Jharkhand empowering people to make their children go to school and educate them. He emphasized the role that education plays in one’s life and how it helps the country too. He made sure that his visit comes out with a fruitful conclusion with people taking initiatives from their side as well. 
 
Maoism violence:
Speaking on the Maoism ruckus in the hideous forest areas, Naidu said that the ballot and not the bullet is the solution of the Maoist violence and exhorted the people not to encourage forces who indulge into violence. He further added that their principles and ideologies may be different and if they are confident about them, they should go to the people, get the mandate and become minister or chief minister. He said the gun is not solution.
Turning to the human rights' groups, Vice President said that they criticise when Maoists are killed but remain silent when common people and the security forces are killed. Stating that violence is a hindrance to development, he said the Jharkhand government has controlled Maoist violence.
