Dhaka, Sept 12: Radical Islamists continued their attacks against the Hindu temples in Bangladesh. The latest in the series is the September 4 incident in which a Hindu temple in Manikgonj district of Bangladesh was destroyed and vandalised.
According to Adv. Rabindra Ghosh, President of “Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) that works for human rights of Hindus in Bangladesh, on September 4, 2017 five jihadis attacked Hindu temples in village Solai Bangla and destroyed 10 idols of Hindu deities in Raksha Kali temple and Loknath temple.
Lalchand Rajbongshi, priest of the temple has lodged a police complaint against the perpetrators but no one was arrested.
This incident underlines the fact that how the Hindu minority is subjected to continuous atrocities from the Islamic radicals. Attacks on Hindu temples and atrocities against the Hindus have become a regular feature in Bangladesh.
According to the 1901 census the Hindus were 33% of the total population in Bangladesh which has now declined to 8.9 % in 2011 census. Thousands of Hindu temples were destroyed and desecrated by the Islamic radicals.
The Hindus in Bangladesh are looking to India with hope in their eyes to save them from this pitiable condition and ask the Bangladesh government to protect the Hindu minority. The Hindus feel that India should take up the issue of attacks on them and destruction of temples with the Bangladesh government to ensure protection of Hindus and their temples.
