New Delhi, September 25: Sailing on the blue ocean below the heavenly sky- the dream to be of millions to experience such adventure yet soothing life… is now in the feets of our six women naval officers who are sailing on the INSV Tarini boat to circumnavigate the globe. “Sea does not discriminate between Genders,” says diminutive Lt. Commander Vartika Joshi- the lady who is leading the first ever Indian circumnavigation of the globe with all women crew on an Indian-built sailboat Indian Naval Sailing Vessel Tarini (INSV Tarini). 

The whole nation went Ga-ga when these ladies set to sail their cruise INSV Tarini holding the huge responsibility on their shoulders to circumnavigate the globe. Showers of best wishes, pride and honour set off INSV Tarini to head towards its mission. Interestingly, the ladies are enjoying their lives to the fullest. Today morning achieving its 1st milestone, INSV Tarini crossed the Equator and entered the Southern Hemisphere, informed the Indian Navy. On 10th September, Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged off Navika Sagar Parikrama from Panaji. And this team will return back Goa by April 2018.

The other five women officers are Lt Commanders Pratibha Jamwal and P Swathi, and Lieutenants S Vijaya Devi, B Aishwarya and Payal Gupta.
