Jharkhand govt. sets up panel to probe Kumardubi firecracker factory blast, death toll rises to 10

Ranchi, September 26: After a firecracker factory blasted off yesterday in Jharkhand, the death toll has been increased to 10 from 8 casualties. The blast was so powerful that it flew off the houses in the neighbourhood. After the dreadful incident, Jharkhand government decided to set up a two-member team to probe the blast.
An NDRF team is conducting rescue operations and trying to find out bodies that could have gone charred. According to a government press release, Kolhan Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General of Police will probe the incident closely to find the culprits. It said that disciplinary action will be taken against the Officer In-charge of the concerned police station.
The three-storied building collapsed in the blast used to manufacture illegal firecracker unit. In fact, the police sources say that Maoist guerillas were also supplied explosives from the illegal unit.
The officials after investigation said that a huge amount of explosive powder was stocked in the building where the blast occurred. 3 bodies were recovered from the debris of the dilapidated building. Meanwhile, the injured have been admitted in local hospitals and some were sent to West Bengal.
CM Raghubar Das yesterday tweeted by saying that Rs 2 lakh compensation will be given to the kin of each killed in the blast. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured people.
