Jammu, September 28: Prime Minister Modi led government has always taken special care of armed forces and disabled ones with an aim to empower them. However, moving on the same path, the Jammu and Kashmir government has launched a special scheme for disabled soldiers and their dependents by providing credit at a concessional rate of interest to set up self-employment ventures.
Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class Development Corporation announced the scheme on Wednesday for disabled soldiers and their dependents by providing credit at a concessional rate of interest to set up self-employment ventures.
Under this new scheme, disabled soldiers or dependent relatives of such soldiers who are permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir having a disability of 40 percent and above can avail a maximum loan of 25 lakh rupees at just 4-7 percent rate of interest per annum.
Notably, the announcement was done by Vice Chairperson of the Corporation Balbir Ram Rattan along with RK Pandita, Managing Director of the Corporation during a press conference in Jammu. On this occasion, Balbir Ram Rattan said the Jammu and Kashmir SC, ST & BC Development Corporation Limited has launched this scheme in collaboration with National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC).
“In order to inculcate the spirit of self-confidence among such disabled soldiers through self-employment and utilize their honesty and courage gained through past employment, the Corporation proposes to provide them credit on concessional rate of interest, to set-up self-employment ventures costing up to Rs 25 lakh with no income criteria”, he added.
Meanwhile, the MD of the Corporation informed that there is also a provision of pre-training in the scheme, if required for the successful running of proposed activity/unit and 100% cost of training (maximum Rs 10,000) exclusive stipend as per prevailing norms shall be provided by the NHFDC, New Delhi. “For obtaining a loan by eligible disabled soldiers and disabled dependent relatives of soldiers, application in the prescribed format is to be submitted to the concerned district office of the Corporation, for sanction of loan”, he added.
