Mogadishu, September 3: Somalia again faces violent attack from Al-Shabab militants. The heavily armed group of militants is reported to kill at least 22 soldiers. The attack took place at a military base near Somalia’s southern port city of Kismayu. Later Al-Shabab officially claimed responsibility for the attack.
"We understand al-Shabab attacked the base and fierce fighting and a blast occurred, but still we have no details," Mohamed Isa, a military officer, told.
Abdiasis Abu Musaal-Shabab's military spokesman told: "This morning, we stormed the Jubbaland base near Bula Gudud. We killed 26 soldiers and burnt two cars."
Local media reported, a resident of the area confirmed that the Al shabaab militants managed to briefly seize the control of Jubbaland military camp. Even the militant group posted in its online media that they took over the base.
