Yangon, September 7: When Myanmar is suffering from its decade old conflict in Rakhine state; many western countries are criticizing the role of Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi. Putting an end to long term civil war, Myanmar has recently become a new democracy. Hence when she has been questioned on the issue, she said that is a little unreasonable to expect us to solve the issue in 18 months.

In a recent violent upsurge in Myanmar, the poorest state of Myanmar, Rakhine has again been set on fire. Thousands of houses are being burned down and both Buddhists, Rohingya Muslim community people are fleeing to Bangladesh. UN Chief Guterres also urged Bangladesh to give shelter to Rohingya Muslims who are seeking safety.

When everyone is blaming the state, many people forgot this upsurge started from a violent attack on military forces of Myanmar. While everyone is criticizing Myanmar Military’s role, Aung San Suu Kyi made a very valuable comment – “We have to decide how to differentiate terrorists from innocents”. She said people in India would be well versed with the problem.

Suu Kyi again assured that Myanmar is committed to its citizen’s security. But then again she reminded a very practical thing, the obstacles and lack of resource in Myanmar as a new democracy.“Our duty to take care of our citizens and will try our best. Our resources are not as complete and adequate as we would like them to be,” she said.

The Nobel peace winner Suu Kyi who suffered a lot to restore peace in the country said this is the biggest challenge the country has had to face. The problem goes back to pre-colonial times.
