A “rock-solid” India-Russia friendship to move forward with Sushma Swaraj’s Russia visit

Vladivostok, September 7: Sushma Swaraj who is on a three-day visit to Russia met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum. External Affairs minister, Swaraj told Russian Foreign Minister that Indo-Russia friendship is as strong as a rock and nothing can weaken it. Lavrov also expressed his happiness over the meeting.

In a press release, Lavrov said, there are things to discuss, primarily from the point of view of implementing the agreements reached during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to St Petersburg between July 1-3 of this year and the recent contacts between our leaders in Xiamen on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.

He expressed his interest to the further promotion of bilateral agenda as well as joint work concerning international issues in the context of the special, privileged strategic partnership.

Sushma Swaraj launched the Russia Desk at the third Eastern Economic Forum in Russia’s the Far East. Russia’s Far East is a very rich region and Swaraj already told a large economy like India can really do very good work with this region.
