Kolkata, September 8: The fundamental principle of research is that it should be original. But plagiarism is an old disease of researchers.When a researcher starts working, a fresh idea should head towards a new direction but in the course of pressure during research work or may be due to other reasons, they start copying other works. Calcutta University which holds an important place in academics of India has started taking digital help to protect the originality of research.
Making the research papers digitalized will make the process of checking plagiarism easier. UGC has taken initiative to make research papers from every university digitized soon. The Vice Chancellor of CU Sonali Chakrabarti has said CU has submitted highest number of research papers.
In a draft of UGC, it has been decided research papers with 10 to 40% plagiarism have to be submitted again after six months. Even the registration of a research scholar could be canceled if more than 60% plagiarism is detected.
