New Delhi, Sept 8: Questioning the credibility of the Congress government in Karnataka Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the state government has failed to provide security to senior journalist Gauri Lankesh who was involved in the surrender and rehabilitation work for Naxalites.

Responding to the remarks made Lankesh's brother Prasad blamed Karnataka government for not providing security cover to Lankesh. "Was she doing it with the consent of the state government? why was she not provided security by the government?" the minister asked.

Taking a jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi Ravi Shankar Prasad mentioned that the Congress leader has not questioned the ability of his state government and blamed RSS without any investigation. The Minister also spoke out against the "hypocrisy and double standards" of the liberals when an RSS worker is killed in Karnataka.

Senior journalist Lankesh was shot dead on Tuesday at her residence in Bengaluru's Rajarajeshwari Nagar. The state government has formed SIT comprising of 19 officers, headed by IGP Intelligence B.K. Singh, to probe into the matter.
