Hyderabad, January 23: Jana Sena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan announced that his outfit would field candidates in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for the upcoming general elections 2019. Speaking to the media, the Jana Sena chief informed that he would devote more time for political activities instead of signing any film. This was the first public appearance of Pawan Kalyan after the worldwide release of his 25th Telugu flick Agnyaathavaasi helmed by his close friend Trivikram Srinivas under the banner of Haarika & Hassine Creations.

The actor turned Politician, who has large fan-following in both Telugu states on Monday embarked on his maiden Telangana state-wide mass outreach drive after the foundation of Jana Sena Party. Kalyan began his campaign after offering prayers at Kondagattu Anjaneyaswamy temple in Jagtial, Karimnagar district. Later he moved for scheduled interaction with Jana Sena members.

When asked about the new year meeting diplomacy with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Pawan termed it as just a courtesy call and also hailed KCR for his dedication and efforts for the welfare of Telangana. After his three-day Telangana tour, the power star will start his yatra in Andhra Pradesh from Anantapur on Jan 27.


Popularly known as Power Star, the ace actor founded the political outfit called Jana Sena during 2014 general election where he extended his support to TDP-BJP alliance and also shared the stage with PM Narendra Modi. Pawan Kalyan is the younger brother of veteran actor and Congress leader Chiranjeevi.

The veteran actor is also known for his social initiates like ‘Jeevan Daan', an organ donation awareness drive. Recognizing mass appeal and popularity among youth, Kalyan was appointed as the brand ambassador of Andhra Pradesh government to promote the creative craft of handlooms. Recently he met Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu over the issue of chronic kidney patients in Uddanam of Srikakulam district in north coastal Andhra Pradesh.

On December 6, during his first leg of mass interaction and expansion drive, the Jana Sena expressed reservations about the proposed privatization of profit-making Dredging Corporation of India. He also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the decision in the larger interest of DCI workers.
