14 States, 9 Central Ministries to participate in Republic Day Parade

New Delhi, January 23: A full-fledged rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade was held at the Rajpath in Delhi today. Fourteen States and nine Central Ministries will participate in the Republic Day Parade this year. 

The tableaux will showcase varied themes starting from country’s rich cultural heritage, flora and fauna and socio-economic development to progress of the nation. Operation Clean Money, Khelo India and ASEAN-India are some of the themes of the tableaux.

Briefing media in New Delhi, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Defence said, for the first time an Income Tax Department and All India Radio will be part of the parade.

IT-Department tableau will roll down the Rajpath during the Republic Day parade, showcasing its special anti-black money drive that was launched post demonetisation.

Also, AIR will showcase AIR's journey of more than eight decades in the domain of public service, promotion and preservation of socio-cultural and linguistic heritage.

Meanwhile, Traditional masks of Assam will feature in state's tableau while Kettukazhcha of Kerala will draw the attention. Maharashtra will display the Coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji and Himachal Pradesh tableau will showcase Buddhist Monastery Kye Gompa. A tableau of Union Territory of Lakshadweep will portray unique culture of the island.
