WEF to set up new center at Mumbai to speed up 4th industrial revolution: CM

Mumbai, Jan 23: The World Economic Forum (WEF) has decided to extend its centre set up for the fourth industrial revolution to Mumbai, Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis said in Davos today.

Fadanvis is currently on a three-day visit to Davos, Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum-2018 meeting. On the first day of his visit Chief of WEF’s food security initiative Sean D Cleane met Chief Minister Fadanvis. They discussed issues related to value chain for farmers, use of technology for farming and new researches and necessity of quality food.

Welcoming the decision of the WEF, Chief Minister Fadanvis said that the proposed Mumbai centre of the WEF will facilitate exchange of knowledge and implement the policies based on science and technology with ease. Emphasis will be given through this centre on robotics, artificial intelligence, use of drone technique for farming etc.

According to the discussion with Mr Cleane, 25 lakh farmers will be accommodated in value chain through public-private participation. Use of drone in farming, finance on actual cropping pattern, extensive partnership with banks, and insurance facilities were also discussed. This discussion will be helpful in taking better steps towards food security, sustainable environment, and sustainable farming, the Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani paid a visit to Magnetic Maharshtra centre at Davos. He talked with the Chief Minister on issues related to digital connect with villages and Industry 4.0 i.e. fourth industrial revolution. The Chief Minister congratulated famous film star Shah Rukh Khan for getting Cristal Award through Mir Foundation.
