Jaisalmer, January 28: Under the purview of the telecommunication industry, the Gram Panchayats in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan are been provided access to telemedicine and e-education facilities riding on Bharat Net infrastructure.

According to the survey it is found that Hamira is one among the one lakh Gram panchayat covered under the BharatNet phase 1. In total Rajasthan comprises of over 8117 Gram panchayats under the BharatNet service. The Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundarajan visited the areas and people of Jaisalmer to understand their need and comfort of using the internet connectivity, as the government is focussing on utilizing the net infrastructure to these remote areas to provide high-speed broadband internet and internet based services.
Reviewing the activities at Hamira, it was taken into consideration that schools, railway station, public distribution system, various services under e-mitra etc can be made stronger using the 100 mbps broadband connectivity provided through BharatNet. Sundararajan also added that this connectivity will be helpful for the entire panchayat, especially for women and children, when services like telemedicine and e-education facilities are provided.
