Mahadayi row: CM Siddaramaiah pitches for amicable solution

Bengaluru, January 29: Ahead of the crucial assembly polls, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah once again reiterated that state government is ready to resume the talks with BJP led Goa government keeping political differences aside. Speaking to the media on the issue of Mahadayi row, Siddaramaiah clearly stated that keeping the interest of people from drought-hit districts, the state government is ready to take all possible steps to address the long pending row of water sharing.

On this occasion, he urged center to address the issue by considering the acute water scarcity in the northern region of Karnataka. The Karnataka Chief Minister also demanded Prime Minister Modi 's intervention even before the final verdict of Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal, a legal body appointed by the Central government to resolve Mahadayi river dispute.

Siddaramaiah requested state BJP leaders take strong steps to convince Prime Minister Modi for the much-needed settlement between Goa and Karnataka. Siddaramaiah said that his government was ready to lead an all-party delegation to meet the Prime Minister to resolve the issue at the earliest. Four districts Bagalkote, Belagavi, Dharwad, and Gadag are suffering from drought and facing troubles in meeting agricultural issue due to insufficient water.
