Panaji, January 30: To provide convenient & eco-friendly public transportation services to its people & tourists, Goa flagged off its first 100 % electric bus today. The bus will run by Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC).
The electric bus was flagged off by the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in Presence of State Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Naga Satyam, President, Strategy, Goldstone Infratech Limited and Ketsu Zhang, Executive Director, BYD India Limited. The electric bus will offer zero-emission, quiet operation and better acceleration compared to traditional buses informed officials.
After experiencing the bus, Chief Minister Parrikar told that next year Goa needs 50 to 100 electric buses. On Tuesday, an electric carriage will be seen on the road and immediately the government will issue a tender by issuing a tender. The government will take care that more and more electric and biogas-based buses run on the roads of Goa. Because we want freedom from pollution.
Mr. Satyam said, ‘We are happy to deliver our zero-emission electric bus to KTC for trial run. We hope the state will adopt the electric buses and add to the corporation's fleet. We are seeing a great level of enthusiasm in other state governments in adopting electric buses and contribute to the clean energy goals in the country.
