won’t comprise on Mahadayi issue: Goa Congress

Panaji, January 31: In a surprising move, launching a fierce attack on Karnataka government over the alleged diversion of Mahadayi river water to the Malaprabha basin Senior Congress leader and former minister Ramakant Khalap said that Goa congress won’t compromise on Mahadayi inter-state water sharing issue. Speaking to the media, Khalap maintained that Karnataka leaders are unnecessarily politicizing the issue just for the sake of political gains. He further added that Goa will continue to oppose the illegitimate water fetching by Karnataka.

Earlier, Goa Dy speaker Michael Lobo accused Siddaramaiah government of violating norms of Mahadayi Tribunal. Goa assembly is planning to introduce a resolution against Karnataka government condemning the reported diversion of Mahadayi water. Meanwhile, responding to criticism of Goa, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah refuted all the allegations regarding illegal water transfer and construction of dams.
