EC issues notification for first phase of polling for 18 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, October 16: Election commission today issued a notification for the first phase of polling for 18 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh to be held on 12th November. The assembly elections will be held in two phases in the state.


 

With the issue of notification for first phase of elections, the process of filing nomination papers began in 18 assembly constituencies of Chhattisgarh.

These 18 assembly segments include 12 seats of all seven districts of Maoist affected Bastar division and 6 constituencies of Rajnandgaon district. The last date for nominations would be October 23.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers would take place on October 24 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations is October 26. There are about 31 lakh 80 thousand voters in these 18 seats.

Recently, the Chief Election Commissioner of India O P Rawat announced the election schedule for the five states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram.

The term of Chhattisgarh State Assembly expires on January 5 2019; that of Madhya Pradesh Assembly on January 7, Rajasthan on January 20 and Mizoram state assembly term expires on December 15. As such the Election Commission has planned to hold elections in these states before December 15, the CEC said.
