Sukma, November 26: In a series of encounter to swap out Maoist terrorist, at least eight Maoists were killed and two police personnel were martyred on Monday in an encounter between Maoists and security men in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police said.
According to the reports, the exchange of fire took place at a forest in Kistaram area, when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation.The bodies of eight Maoists had been found at the encounter spot, an official said.
Two District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel were also killed in the exchange of fire. A joint team of DRG (District Reserve Guard), special task force (STF) and CRPF have cordoned off the area.
Earlier on Sunday, two Naxals were killed and a police personnel was injured in encounters in the insurgency-hit Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said a combined squad of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) was cordoning off the jungles between Nilamadgu and Korinjed in Madded area, when it came under fire from the rebels.
A DRG jawan sustained a bullet injury in the neck.
